ガラード301は、BBC（英国放送協会）でも使用されたレコードプレーヤーの傑作です。ターンテーブルの回転にアイドラードライブ方式を採用し、強力なモーターの駆動力と相まって、アナログ・レコードの溝から太く瑞々しい音を引き出します。
針は、MC型カートリッジの代名詞ともいえるオルトフォンSPUを選び、トーンアーム、MCトランスにも専用設計のものを合わせています。
プリアンプは、音に暖かみが出るラックスマンのCL35。レコード再生の要となるフォノイコライザーにマランツ型の回路を採用している真空管アンプです。
パワーアンプは、真空管アンプ工房のオーディオコレクションズに211シングル・モノラルアンプの製作を依頼しました。211というのは、このアンプの出力管に使用しているヴィンテージ管の名称で、本来は送信機用に開発された非常に大きいものです。10ワットと控えめな出力に抑えてありますが、ぐいぐいとスピーカーをドライブし、音が前に飛んでくるアンプです。
スピーカーは、店の広さや席との距離を考慮して中型のモニタータイプを選びました。ジャズやロックとの相性が良いジェイビーエルの4311です。アルニコ磁石仕様となります。
The Garrard 301 is a masterpiece of a record player that was also used by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). It uses an idler drive system to rotate the turntable, and in combination with the driving force of a powerful motor, it draws out a thick, fresh sound from the grooves of the analog record.
The needle is an Ortofon SPU, which is synonymous with MC type cartridges, and the tone arm and MC transformer are also specially designed.
The preamp is a Luxman CL35, which gives a warm sound. It is a vacuum tube amplifier that uses a Marantz type circuit for the phono equalizer, which is the key to record playback.
For the power amplifier, we asked Audio Collections, a vacuum tube amplifier workshop, to make a 211 single/mono amplifier. 211 is the name of the vintage tube used in the output tube of this amplifier, which is a very large tube originally developed for a transmitter. Although it has a modest output of 10 watts, it is an amplifier that drives the speaker with force and makes the sound fly forward.
Considering the size of the restaurant and the distance from the seats, we chose medium-sized monitor speakers. They are JBL 4311, which go well with jazz and rock. They are alnico magnet type.
